1.5 Billion Muslims have voice in US Congress through two Muslim Congressmen

Congressmen Keith Ellison and Andre Carson visit Arrahman Arraheem Network booth at APPNA Convention in Washington DC

Arrahman Arraheem Network recently participated in the 31st APPNA (Association of Physicians of Pakistani-descent of North America) Convention in Washington DC in which two US Muslim Congressmen; Keith Ellison (D) Minnesota and Andre Carson (D) Indiana, specially visited the stall of Arrahman Arraheem Network and gave a special interview at their office in Capitol Hill in Washington DC.

Congressmen Keith Ellison, the first Muslim in the US Congress who took his oath on the Holy Quran, was extremely appreciative of the efforts of Arrahman Arraheem Network when informed that Surah An-Nisaa 4 Ayat # 135 and Surah Al’Maidah 5 Ayat # 8 of the Quran justified his taking oath on the Quran. In these Ayats the Quran extols all Muslims, whether they are Senators or Congressmen, to be just and fair in their dealings while bearing witness to Allah (swt) even if it is against their own self or their enemies. The Congressman was informed that as the voice of 1.5 billion Muslims he now has an obligation to defend and fight for the rights and benefits of Muslims all over the world.

Congressmen Andre Carson, the second Muslim in the US Congress, while speaking to Arrahman Arraheem Network, emphasised that Muslim women should feel proud in wearing their Hijabs and be confident in claiming that they are Muslims and practise Islam, because Islam is a religion of Peace that respects the rights and beliefs of all others. The Congressman agreed that because of a few individuals Islam is a getting a bad name and stressed the media to play a positive and constructive role to correct this misconception. He vowed that he shall not only work for the improvement of Muslim Ummah but will also safeguard the rights of Christians, Jews and people of all other religions.

Both the Congressmen were briefed about the activities of Arrahman Arraheem Network which are being done to counter the negative propaganda in the media about Islam and Muslims, and the efforts to promote inter-faith dialogue, peace and universal brotherhood. Both the Congressmen were amazed and extremely happy to learn that Arrahman Arraheem Network was doing such good work voluntarily through own resources and promised to support and assist the Network in its future endeavours. Mr Babar Chaudhry, founder of Arrahman Arraheem Network, while recording his comments on this occasion appealed to Muslims all over the world to be watchful in their actions and speech and should not do anything which may result in embarrassment to the two Muslim Congressmen who are the voice of change for the Muslims in the US Congress.

The team of Arrahman Arraheem Network also spoke with the doctors, dignitaries, politicians and general public who attended the APPNA Annual Convention and highlighted their duties and responsibilities towards making Pakistan stronger. The importance of focussing on the youth in making them a better Muslim, a better American citizen and a good Pakistani citizen was stressed. The network also arranged talk shows with doctors of different specialities to make the audiences aware of the latest advances in healthcare and how the general health of the people of Pakistan can be improved. #
