Muslims in United States continue to face racial profiling and immigration hassles
Arrahman Arraheem Network’s message to Senators and Congressmen during meeting at Capitol Hill, Washington DC
The team of Arrahman Arraheem Network recently visited Capitol Hill in Washington DC and meet a number of Senators and Congressmen. During the discussions the team highlighted the support and sacrifices made by Pakistan and the Pakistani people against the War on Terror which remain unrecognised and unappreciated by the world, particularly the US. On the contrary Pakistanis and Muslims have been targeted and have been subjected to racial profiling and strict immigration and visa restrictions and clearances.
The members of US Congress which met Arrahman Arraheem Network included Senators Joe Biden (D) Delaware, Tom Harkin (D) Iowa, Benjamin Cardin (D) Maryland Congressmen Dan Burton (R) 5th Indiana, Wayne Gilchrest (R) 1st Maryland, Keith Ellison (D) 5th Minnesota, Andre Carson (D) 7th Indiana and Congressperson Sheila Jackson (D) 18th Texas.
While speaking with the Senators and Congressmen, Mr Babar Chaudhry the founder of Arrahman Arraheem Network, stated highlighted that in fighting the War against Terror, Pakistan itself has become a victim and the sacrifices and sufferings of Pakistanis has not been recognised and due recognition not given. Mr Chaudhry added that aid to Pakistan is still given with conditions while other allies, whose contribution in War on Terror is much less, are not treated in this manner. Pakistan has participated whole-heartedly in many UN Peacekeeping Missions all over the world, yet Pakistan’s efforts have not been truly appreciated. While speaking about the injustices meted out to the Muslims, Mr Chaudhry pointed out that individuals having Muslims names are treated with suspicion and are subjected to extra clearances at the airports and when issuing work or visiting visas resulting in delays and distress for the applicants.
All the Senators and Congressmen listened attentively and promised to do there best for resolving this problem. While speaking with Arrahman Arraheem Network, Senator Joe Biden (D) Delaware, informed that he has moved a bill in the Senate for providing Pakistan with economic assistance worth $ 1.5 billion yearly for the next 10 years for strengthening democratic institutions since Pakistan’s future is of important concern for the US.
The efforts of Arrahman Arraheem Network in promoting Peace and Universal Brotherhood, removing the misconceptions about Islam and Muslims and for promoting Inter-Faith Dialogue were highly appreciated and welcomed by all the dignitaries. #
